Introduction to Qibo

Qi Bo: The most prestigious medical scientist in the legendary period of China. "Emperor's Century": "(Yellow Emperor) also made Qi Bo taste a hundred herbs. The classics for treating diseases, the book of prescriptions, herbal medicines, and books of modern classics are salty." Lin Yi, a medical surveyor in the Song Dynasty, emphasized in "Chongguang Supplementary Notes on the Yellow Emperor's Internal Classics Suwen Table": "Seeking the relief of the people. The hermit who cares about the people, the deep benevolence of the Lord, is also the same as the Yuji of the Yellow Emperor in the past. ...It was with Qibo that he went up to Qiong Tianji, and went down to the extreme geography, taking things from afar, and taking things from a close distance. "Zuo Yi" sees that the "Plain Questions" in today's biography is basically the Yellow Emperor's questions and Qi Bo's answers to explain medical theories, which shows Qi Bo's profound medical accomplishment. Chinese medicine is known as "Qihuang", or "Qihuang's art", and Qibo is the most important.

In the "Huangdi Neijing", there is always a person who answers questions after the Yellow Emperor asks questions, and he is Qibo. Qibo, according to legend, was also the minister of the Yellow Emperor and the imperial physician of the Yellow Emperor. He was ordered by the Yellow Emperor to taste various plants and trees, and to treat diseases. He also discussed meridians with Lei Gong. "Huangdi Neijing" is written by Huangdi discussing medical principles with Qi Bo and others.

Qi Bo's native place

Qibo was the most famous doctor in ancient times in our country. Because it is a legend, there are different versions about his native place. It is generally believed that Qibo lived in Qishan (now Qishan, Shaanxi Province). However, recent information shows that Qi Bo was from Qingyang County, Gansu Province. For example, it is recorded in "Qingyang County Chronicles · People" during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty: "Qi Bo, a native of the north, was born shrewd and skilled in medical skills. Qibo was good at thinking and had great ambitions since he was a child. He liked to observe the sun, moon and stars, climate, cold and heat, mountains, rivers, vegetation and other natural things and phenomena. He also knows music, can make musical instruments, measure the shadow of the sun, is versatile and talented. Seeing that many people died of diseases, he determined to study medicine, looked for good teachers and friends everywhere, and became a famous doctor because he was proficient in medical skills. In order to cure people's diseases, the Yellow Emperor respected him as a teacher and discussed medical issues together. Most of the "Huangdi Neijing" is written in the style of his answering questions with Huangdi. Therefore, the earliest document recording "Qibo" is "Huangdi Neijing". In order to commemorate their contributions, later generations specially built Qibo Temple. For example, "Qingyang County Chronicles·Tan Temple" contains: "Qibo Temple is in the south of the county." According to "Ci Hai": Northland, the name of the county, was established in the Warring States Qin Dynasty. The Yiqu where Bo is located was moved to Maling (now northwest of Qingyang, Gansu) in the Western Han Dynasty.
