Mongolian Acupuncture Therapy

Acupuncture and moxibustion of Mongolian medicine has its own unique features.

        After the 16th century, Mongolian medicine absorbed a large number of theories and experiences of acupuncture therapy from Tibetan medicine and other fraternal nations, which further developed Mongolian acupuncture therapy.

        "The Spring of Manna" clearly discusses the indications, contraindications, acupuncture points, types of acupuncture therapy, acupuncture methods, and curative effects of acupuncture therapy from five aspects, and points out that "acupuncture therapy includes cold needles and hot needles." There are two kinds of needles", the cold needle is just acupuncture, and the hot needle is a combination of acupuncture and moxibustion.

        Acupuncture of Mongolian medicine has the characteristics of combining with roasting and moxibustion, which is the specific need of frequent cold syndrome in Mongolia.

        Most of the needles used in Mongolian medicine are silver needles (there are also gold needles). Therefore, the acupuncture therapy of Mongolian medicine is called "silver needle therapy".
